Solemnity of the Assumption

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated each year on August 15, honors the Church’s belief that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. The feast celebrates God’s faithfulness and points to the hope of resurrection and eternal life promised to all who follow Christ.
