Teachers and assistants of the Sunday School/Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) are registered parishioners - parents and grandparents - who have a desire to grow deeper in their knowledge of the Catholic faith by teaching it to the young people of the parish.
Curriculum and Sacramental Preparation Using Archdiocese of Washington (ADW)-approved books and materials, including Our Sunday Visitor’s Allelu and Alive in Christ series, our teachers provide a wide-ranging curriculum that helps children and teenagers grow in the Catholic faith. Instruction follows ADW’s Religion Curriculum Guide: Forming Disciples for the New Evangelization and prepares students for First Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation.
OCIA for Children The Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIA) prepares children ages seven and older to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Ongoing Faith Formation and Student Engagement Post-confirmation teens who do not attend Catholic high schools continue their faith formation with an emphasis on applying Catholic teaching to everyday life. Students are assessed through informal and formal activities, including quizzes and chapter tests, and are encouraged to participate in community service throughout the year. Teens also deepen their faith through weekly spiritual discussions, and social activities.
Classes begin Sunday, September 13, 2026.
