    • "Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,..." - Matthew 14:19

    • Our Mission

SHARE Food Network is part of the social ministry outreach of the Archdiocese of Washington. Motivated by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and guided by Catholic social and moral teaching. As a program of Catholic Charities, SHARE strengthens the lives of all in need by giving help that empowers and hope that lasts. To this end we affirm and support the dignity of all human life, strengthen families, and serve the poor and most vulnerable. The Self-Help and Resource Exchange Food Network (SHARE) is made up of women and men of all ages, from teens and young adults to seniors. All are welcome.
    • What We Do

People are empowered through SHARE to stretch their family's food budget, access information on health and nutrition, and develop partnerships to prevent hunger in communities. By combining bulk buying power and volunteerism, SHARE offers quality food and substantial savings to all participants!

SHARE DC Metro serves an average of 12,000 families monthly, through a network of 300 volunteer Host Organizations, of which St. Augustine is one. These organizations include churches of all denominations, senior centers, military installations, Head Start programs, schools, and tenant associations.

The food package contains frozen meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and staple items such as rice, pasta, beans, and potatoes. Families can pick up their SHARE packages on the fourth Saturday of every month by 11:30 a.m. in the cafeteria in the basement of the St. Augustine School.

      Flagship Activities:
      • Monthly food distributions
      • Staffing a sign up table in the Church after each Mass for food package orders.
    • Join Our Ministry!

Anyone is welcome to join the SHARE Ministry. All we ask is that you give two hours of community service a month.

We encourage youth involvement as a way to complete their community service requirements for school.

We sort, package and distribute food on the fourth Saturday of every month in the St. Augustine Catholic School cafeteria between 8:00–11:30 a.m. Program participants can come at any time between those hours to pick up food packages or volunteer to help.

To volunteer, please contact Ms. Bea Judon, our Parish Office Manager, at 202-265-1470.
    • Do You Need Support? We Can Help.

SHARE food packages are available to anyone. There is no application, qualification, identification or documentation required.

Monthly food packages cost $25 and include up to $50 worth of groceries. Each package contains 4 to 6 pounds of frozen protein items and 8 to 12 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Seasonal groceries and desserts are often available.

Food packages are distributed on the fourth Saturday of every month at the Saint Augustine Catholic School cafeteria (1421 V Street NW, Washington, DC 20009) between 8:00 - 11:30 a.m. You must sign up in advance to place an order for a food package.

To sign up, please contact Ms. Bea Judon, our Parish Office Manager, at 202-265-1470.
