Every marriage needs time to reconnect. Whether you’re newly married or have spent decades together, the St. Augustine Marriage Ministry (SAMM) invites you to step away from your usual routine and spend a weekend with each other.

Michael and Charlene Howard bring 35 years of marriage and a shared commitment to Catholic ministry to this year’s retreat. They are the parents of four children and grandparents of five.
Professor Michael Howard is the founder and director of Eat the Scroll Ministry, which offers retreats, Bible studies, and reflections on the Sunday Gospels for African American Catholics. He also teaches online courses for the University of Dayton and the University of Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute STEP program.
Charlene is the National Director of Pax Christi USA, a Catholic peace and justice movement. She holds a master’s degree in Catechesis and Religious Education from The Catholic University of America.
Together, Michael and Charlene share their faith and experience through Eat the Scroll Ministry. We look forward to the wisdom, faith, and personal experiences they will share as they guide us through this special weekend.
